2022 is still a great time to buy an RV

A lot has happened in the last couple of years, making travel a bit more challenging. Travelling in a motorhome allows you to explore new places whilst keeping yourself in a self-contained bubble. No more last-minute flight changes or need for travel nerves.

Motorhome travel is flexible travel. You are in control of where you go, where you avoid, and how long you're away. There are no set itineraries, and as long as you keep your RV well charged and full of fuel, you can just head for the horizon and see where you end up. With plenty of well-driven roads, you can get from one side of the country to the other if that is your goal!

Driving a self-contained unit also means fewer worries about bookings and price fluctuations at accommodation providers. However, we recommend booking during peak travel season if you're looking to stay in a holiday park and calling ahead when you need a powered site. That said, when you're charged up and have a full tank of gas, you could give free camping a go too.

KEA has a wide range of fully self-contained campervans and motorhomes that are ready to hit the road this summer. If you have a specific model or year in mind which isn't readily available, there is no need to fret. In that case, we can draw on the large rental fleet of Maui and Britz, find the RV you're looking for and give it a complete refurbishment. This requires a deposit and a bit of time but can help you get precisely what you're after.

The best time of year to buy an RV is between January and March

Australia has plenty of destinations that boast great weather year-round, so there's never a bad time to look at getting an RV! That said, the summer holidays are often a great reminder that we want to hit the road and get exploring. If you're keen to take off and want to give a motorhome adventure a go, why not try before you buy and save yourself some money in the process?

January through March is also when the latest RV models are released. That means you can compare what's available now and what will be available soon, which is especially good if you're looking for all the most up-to-date vehicles.

With new vehicles on the market, current motorhome owners also take the chance to upgrade models and move on their RVs. If you're in the market for a second-hand motorhome, then this is the time to start searching!

Regardless of if you're in the market for a new motorhome or a second-hand RV, follow KEA and sign up for email updates to get all the latest information.

You have more options when it comes to how you buy your motorhome

Gone are the days when you have to spend your whole weekend visiting branches to buy your next vehicle. Now you can choose to use both in-person or online shopping, meaning you can research and purchase at a time that suits you (and in your PJs if that's your current style!).

Some KEA certified dealers even offer video conference calls for a virtual show through or virtual 360 videos on popular models. You'll find these on our YouTube channel too!

To ensure everyone remains safe throughout the research and buying process Health and Safety measures are in place across all branches where KEA motorhomes are sold.

No, the quality of motorhomes you can buy isn't dropping

We've heard there is some speculation that motorhome quality is dropping, particularly in models made in the US and Europe as they try to keep up with demand (and demand is growing all the time!). Despite all the changes in the last couple of years, KEA motorhomes continue to be made and maintained with the highest quality.

KEA motorhomes are made with New Zealand and Australian roads and conditions in mind. They are built tough and designed to last the distance. You'll even get our KEA promise of quality on every detail. Another bonus is that they are made locally, so you won't have to worry about shipping delays or missing out on your dream holiday.

You'll find KEA certified dealers in every state, so you have on the ground support when you need it, as well as people to complete those upgrades you're after! And, we're with you the whole way. You'll be covered by the same quality of support when you start researching, when you pick up the keys and when you're on the road.

You'll want to choose carefully to get the right motorhome for you

Picking the right motorhome for your travel style is more important than ever. With so many options available, start thinking about where you want to travel, how often, and what you need to bring on the road. Once you understand what you need, we can help you choose the best RV for you. This will make for much more comfortable and fun road trips in the future!

Get an idea of what will be important to you when you’re on the road. Will you be free camping in a state where drinking water is scarce? Do you need to be fully self-contained with water tanks? Or are you a holiday park fan who just needs the basics?

Another thing to think about is deciding what appliances you'll want to use while you're on the road. Big fan of Netflix? You might want a TV. Coffee enthusiast? Bring along your espresso machine and make room on the bench. If you're hoping to whip up a three-course feast every night, you'll want to get a kitchen set-up that suits that, more than someone who is looking forward to visiting a lot of local food joints.

Then, start thinking about how you want to use your space. Do you need to maximise living space indoors, or are you more comfortable spreading out in nature? Do you need space to store and play board games and cards, or will you be keeping other equipment for different games, like golf clubs, mountain bikes and more? The hobbies and activities that your camper allows you to enjoy will be even better if you can comfortably fit in all your gear!

Finally, don't forget to think about how many beds (berths) you'll need. Are you bringing along the whole family, or is this your time for some peace and quiet? Campervans commonly have between 2 and 6 berths, and these have a significant impact on the size of the vehicle.

The KEA Difference

KEA dealers have been helping Australians choose the right motorhome for years. We have a comprehensive list of things to think about when you're deciding on the right RV for you.

When it comes to planning your future trips, you might be surprised to learn that there are several RV Friendly towns you can stay in across Australia. These towns have met specific guidelines set out by the Caravan and Motorhome Club of Australia to ensure they provide an above-average amount of amenities and a certain level of services for RV travellers. This often includes free access to dump points and drinking water, plus central and affordable parking for even the largest motorhomes.

Added bonus: KEA offers customers a complimentary one-year membership* to The Caravan and Motorhome Club of Australia, giving you access to affordable campsites, RV events, and more.
